Can Birmingham extend their unbeaten run against Chelsea?

Posted 01-27-2010 at 12:58 PM by jamestaylor
Birmingham have been this season's surprise package in the Premier League. Under the leadership of ginger-haired Scotsman Alex McLeish the Midlands side have put together an excellent run and find themselves sitting in a very comfortable 8th.

Although few predicted the side would struggle this year - they do have a billionaire behind them now after all - no one thought they would be doing quite as well as they are.

They haven't lost since October and some fans have been talking about the possibility of Europa League football. However, that could be about to change as they are set to go head to head with title hopefuls Chelsea. The London club currently find themselves in third, two points behind leaders Manchester United, albeit with two games in hand.

For this reason, Chelsea will be very keen to ensure they retake top spot when they meet Birmingham. However, as this Betfair Football blog points out the Brummies have every chance of walking away with a point. If they do that then nothing, including European football next season, is out of the question.
